Phones in the glovebox.
Trailhead at 7:14 a.m. Coffee in a thermos, someone's whippet in the back seat, no service for miles. By lunch nobody's checked Grindr and somebody's already crying at a view.

You need to get offline, off the grid, and out of the algorithm — onto real trails, iconic places, and real people. First trips run Spring 2027. Get on the list to hear first.
Out & Active first existed from 2011 to 2014 — hundreds of trips, thousands of members. We stopped to do some other stuff. Now we're back.
Now we're rebuilding it for 2027 — same idea, new crew. Not a bar. Not an app. Not a chatbot. A trailhead. Founding members shape what this becomes.
Trailhead at 7:14 a.m. Coffee in a thermos, someone's whippet in the back seat, no service for miles. By lunch nobody's checked Grindr and somebody's already crying at a view.
Camp chairs in a circle. A dutch-oven cobbler nobody asked for. Three conversations going — exes, knees, and whether Mercury is in retrograde again.
First-timers in fresh boots next to 14ers regulars. A trans kid from Tulsa, a husband-and-husband in their 60s from P-town, a nonbinary PM who hasn't slept outside since scout camp. Same summit, same ride home.
A Tuesday-night ridge hike. A bunkhouse weekend in the Whites. A two-week walk to Everest Base Camp. Pick the one that fits the year you're having.

Amazing day trips that'll rock your world, often around rocks. Single-day hikes and scrambles within a couple hours of the city. Back by evening with dirt on your boots and new people in your life.

2–3 day adventures that'll get you disconnected from the grid and connected to nature and each other. Cabins, campsites, and bunkhouses. Group meals, big miles, and Sunday night already planning the next one.

Bucket list adventures around the globe. Multi-day treks with permits, guides, lodging, and logistics handled. You show up, you walk, you come home with stories that don't fit in a caption.
Six trips. Six parks. Our flagship lineup for the inaugural 2027 season — permits, lodges, and timed-entry headaches handled. Early access opens with founding-member signup.

Every chapter
Monthly · first Friday
A bar, a back patio, a brewery — we book the spot, you bring yourself. No itinerary, no icebreakers, just the people who'd be on the trip with you.
Every chapter
Quarterly
Bring the puffy you outgrew, the boots that didn't fit, the stove you never used. Leave with someone else's. Surplus goes to local trail crews.
Rotating chapters
Monthly · seasonal
A morning of trail maintenance with the land trusts and park crews who keep our routes open. Tools provided, breakfast tacos guaranteed.
Local parks + trails
Monthly
Map and compass, layering, blister triage, what to actually put in a daypack. Taught by the guides who lead our trips — no purchase necessary.
Every chapter
After every trip
Open invite to anyone in town — even if you didn't come on the hike. The bar's already booked, the table's already long, pull up a chair.
Wherever we land

Most folks roll up alone, get paired with a roommate, swap numbers by night two. Some sign up with their husband, their best friend, a crew of six from book club. Some rent the whole trip for a 40th birthday in Joshua Tree. All three work.
You drive in not knowing a soul. You leave with a roommate who texts you memes for the next three years. We pair by sleep schedule and snore tolerance, not gender. Single room available if you'd rather have the door to yourself.
Designed for solo arrivals
Two of you, four of you, the whole softball team. We'll bunk you together if you want a quiet corner, or split you across cabins so your friend group finally meets someone outside the friend group.
Group discounts at 4+
Your 40th in Joshua Tree. Your chosen family at a lake house in the Adirondacks. Your engineering team in Sedona instead of a hotel ballroom. We plan it, you show up.
